ACQUISITION OF NATIONALITY
NATIONALITY MAY BE ACQUIRED BY
• Children or residents for more than 6 years
• Grandchildren and married to a Portuguese
• Descendants of Sephardic Jews
• Have had the Portuguese nationality and have never acquired another nationality
• Born in Portuguese territory, the child of foreigner’s citizens and who has been habitually resident here in the 10 years prior to the request
NATIONALITY CAN BE READQUIRED BY
• A woman who lost her Portuguese nationality because she acquired a foreign nationality on the basis of marriage to a foreigner citizen
• A person who, having been of Portuguese nationality, lost it for having voluntarily acquired a foreign nationality
