VISAS TO PORTUGAL CLARIFIED

Temporary visas for residence and work, stays of less than 1 year

For tourism purposes, please refer to the list of countries whose citizens are exempt from visa requirements when crossing the external borders.

 

Submit your visa in advance as the time between the visa application and the response may be slightly high, which may condition your decision or lead to substantial changes in your life and travel plans. The Consular administrative process can take up to 6 months.

Work Visa

Requirements

• Employment contract or invitation letter

• Statement from IEFP - Employment Institute proving that the job vacancy was published and not filled by an unemployed person in Portugal

• No Objection Certificate – NOC – Required in some countries

• Personal documents

 

Entrepreneur Visa - D2  

Requirements

• To possess financial means 

• Elaborate business plan

• Register and start the company company 

• Please note that the amount of the investment must be appropriate to the company and/or activity to be carried out

 

Student Visa

Prerequisites

• Registration at a Portuguese university

or

• Applying for a professional course

 

Income or Retirement Visa - D7 

Foreign citizens who wish to enjoy retirement or live on their own income

Requirements

• Documents proving proof of own income *

• Proof of the value of the annual pension ** in the country of origin or residence 

 

* The annual total amount divided by 12 months must be equal or higher than the Portuguese national minimum wage

** In the event of being accompanied by dependent family members, it adds, to the amount, 50% for each adult or 30% for each minor
